Finished Orindary People last night and I add my recommendations to Jacob’s. It’s raw, real… if you don’t find yourself wondering, “oh my gosh, how did this author get inside my head,” you are not human. I think you’ll love it. But you have your entire life, so no pressure for the summer. Looks like you have enought to keep you busy. ;-)

I read constantly. A few months ago, I read “The Orphaned Anything’s”. The writing style is a bit different, but it is quite good. It’s about a guy who is floating through life until a semi-accidental suicide attempt. It’s very psychological, quite profound and redemptive. At least I think so, It’s by the lead singer of a band called Anberlin, if you’ve heard of them. Not very long at all either, under 200 pages.

Right now, I’m reading the Chronicles of Narnia. I feel like every one but me has read them. I’m sure you have but I have to say, I’m loving them! 2 days in and I’m almost done. I’ve also been wanting to read some of C.S. Lewis’ other works. So, I bought a boxed set. It has Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, The Great Divore, The Problem of Pain, and 3 others that I don’t remember. Again, I’m sure you’ve read all of those but I’m excited for them!

I’m not reading anything of interest now to you, unless you enjoy reading nursing test prep.
I do need good books to start reading now since I am not required to read text books, so I suppose I shall look over your list or steal some from someone.

Dearest Ande–Happy 1st Father’s Day….Enjoy all the fruits of your labor.
It was good to enjoy your precious little boy this week: thanks for sharing him. Heard your “bigger” boy wasn’t on his best behavior…but his g’ma loves him anyway.

Ande,

Happy Father’s day after! I totally recommend you get the Kistemaker Parable book to use as a commentary-not really as summer reading. Also I recommend The Challenge of Jesus Parables by Longernecker. Other than the fact he has a cool name, its pretty good; it can be used as a commentary as well as some background and hermeneutic help.

Gosh, you read a lot…
